What is a mid-year goal audit?
A mid-year goal audit is a moment you take in the middle of the year to evaluate how you have been progressing towards your goals in the first half of the year. It helps you revise where you are with your goals and ensures that they are on track and realistic.
Why is a mid-year goal audit important?
A mid-year goal audit is an excellent opportunity to see what is working well and what is not working well. This gives you the space to pivot and reset goals if you need to. It also gives you a holistic view at your business and can help you refocus what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
Now onto the audit…
3 EASY steps to conducting a mid-year goal audit:
We have 3 easy steps to help you assess your current goals and where to go from here — no matter where you are right now.
Step 1: Reflect
The first thing you need to do is remind yourself of what key goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year. Take a moment to reflect on these!
Firstly look at:
- What are you celebrating?
- Did you reach any milestones?
- What goals did you reach?
We want you to really take time to honor these achievements big or small and reflect on the joy of reaching your goals!
Next look at what didn’t work. Reflect on why they didn’t work. This step works best if you use data you’ve tracked over time such as google analytics.
Step 2: Reassess
Ask yourself if your goals are realistic? Are your goals are practical? Also take this moment to reassess if the steps to reach these goals are clear and simple enough to be consistent with.
Step 3: Reset
Now it’s time to layout your game plan for the next half of the year. Ask yourself these questions:
- What are your fresh goals?
- Are there any areas that you need to pivot on?
- What do you need to change in order to reach these goals?
- Can any goals be adjusted?
Depending on how you answered these questions, reset your plan and stick to it. The most important aspect of your goal setting is to make sure the goals are practical and measurable, with clear steps of how to achieve them.
